“Believe” The ALL New CD From Local Songwriter Seamus Doran Launches On May 8th
The evening of Friday the 8th of May 2015 promises to be a very special occasion in Roscrea. At 8.30pm in St Cronan’s Catholic Church, local musician and song writer Seamus Doran will launch his much anticipated new CD entitled “Believe” featuring ten original spiritual songs.
Seamus is well known throughout the county and beyond and is a very popular man in particular in his hometown of Roscrea. Indeed Seamus penned the very popular song “Hometown Of Roscrea” which was part of his first CD entitled “Against The Grain” which was extremely popular featuring songs that are played at Roscrea events ever sense.
“Believe” The ALL New CD From Local Songwriter Seamus Doran will be Launched On May 8th
The new CD “Believe” has achieved new levels of versatility and has aroused great interest from established singers in the material featured. The ten songs feature the very best of local talent including well known singers and musicians and indeed some likely stars of tomorrow. The CD will feature singers, Carmel Minogue, Sheelagh Chadwick, Triona Walsh, Anna-Marie Delaney, Sinead Browne, Lisa Ryan, Zoe Gleeson, Tadhg Maher, Liam Gleeson, Aidan Doran and Lee Doran. After encouragement from his good friend, Liam Gleeson, Seamus eventually recorded the CD with Peter Maher who has worked with some of Ireland’s finest artists at Middlewalk Studios in Cloughjordan. Seamus is obviously very grateful to all the singers that took part and was also keen to mention the tremendous support he has received from musicians Theresa Larkin, Kathleen Costello, Ruth Morrissey and David Kinsella. Frankie Conlon has also provided invaluable assistance to whom Seamus is also very grateful.
Believe represents a relatively new departure for Seamus who is so well known in Roscrea and across the county for sporting songs such as “The Mighty Blue and Gold” which featured on “Up For The Match” before the 2009 All-Ireland Final and won the Tipperary County Board Song Contest that year to celebrate 125 years of the GAA. Other favourites included “Were You There” which celebrated Tipp’s win over Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Final of 2010 and a tribute song to Katie Taylor called “Go Katie Go” following the Bray woman’s success at the London Olympics. We say “Relatively new departure” because Seamus did successfully compose a full folk mass entitled “Lead Me Home” in 2011 which was performed in Kilkenny Cathedral and Mt St Joseph Abbey.
“Believe” will be available to purchase on the night of the launch and will be available locally from Bernies Super Valu the following day Saturday the 9th of May. Admission on the night is by voluntary donation and all proceeds will go to Pieta House, Roscrea who will host their annual “Darkness Into Light Walk” in the early hours of the following night. A souvenir booklet will be available on the night courtesy of the support of Roscrea Credit Union, Stapleton’s Bakery and Bernies Super Valu. Seamus extends a warm welcome to anyone who would like to attend his CD launch. It promises to be one of the most memorable occasions on the Roscrea social calendar this year and is certainly an event not to be missed. Do come along and witness something special.
